DOCUMENTARY:
Story Behind the Mission

A national documentary series honoring young athletes lost to sudden cardiac arrest, turning tragedy
into prevention.

WHY THIS STORY MUST BE TOLD

Every statistic has a name, a family, and a story.

This documentary was born from the young athletes we’ve lost, the families who carry their stories forward, and the belief that greater awareness can help prevent another tragedy.

By giving families, survivors, physicians, athletes, and advocates a voice, we want to show the human impact of Sudden Cardiac Arrest—and inspire communities across the country to take prevention seriously.

That works particularly well with your behind-the-scenes image because the visitor understands why you’re sitting down with these families.

THE VISION

When a young athlete passes away, USA for Athletes will travel to that city in a branded mobile unit to document the story, meet the family, collaborate with the local professional sports team, and host a heart screening for the community.

Each episode becomes a powerful narrative, connecting medicine, sports, and humanity through the lens of prevention.

THE JOURNEY SO FAR

The journey has already begun.

We have started documenting the stories at the heart of this mission, beginning in Las Vegas with the families and young athletes who inspired our work. The story of Jordan Brister, shared alongside his mother, is one of the first chapters in a much larger story we hope to tell across America.

One featured story follows Jordan Brister, age 17, who collapsed at school where his mother was a teacher. His family’s decision to donate his organs gave life to others and inspired a citywide movement for prevention. The Brister family has since been invited to the Rose Parade, where Magic Johnson will serve as Grand Marshal, bringing national attention to this mission.

PARTNER WITH THE STORY

The Documentary Series creates a national platform where storytelling meets action,  connecting sports, medicine, and community to prevent sudden cardiac arrest in youth.

Each episode partners with organizations, hospitals, and brands who share our vision of protecting young athletes. Together, we fund free heart screenings, raise awareness, and inspire families across the country to take prevention seriously.

Partners receive visibility across national and local media, community events, and digital campaigns, uniting their brand with a purpose that saves lives.
